A Week Without Recommendations

For a week I turned off every algorithmic feed I could find. No homepage suggestions. No “for you” tab. No autoplay. The internet got smaller and slower and, surprisingly, more interesting.

What I noticed first was the silence. The second thing I noticed was that I started typing URLs again — the addresses of three or four sites I actually like. The third thing was that I read longer.

I am not going back.
